Effect of Current Velocity on Cd Accumulation in the Aquatic Moss Fontinalis antipyretica

نویسندگان

چکیده

With the aim of further standardizing biomonitoring techniques with aquatic mosses, relationship between velocity water flow and cadmium (Cd) accumulation in transplants moss Fontinalis antipyretica was investigated. For this purpose, were exposed a controlled environment to different concentrations Cd (0, 4, 16 36 ng g−1) velocities (10, 30, 50, 70 90 cm s−1). The mainly depended on concentration water, but small fraction variance explained by velocity. standardized remove effect so all data could be analyzed together. regression model for 23% F. proved significant predictor accumulation.

Cadmium(II) and zinc(II) adsorption by the aquatic moss Fontinalis antipyretica: effect of temperature, pH and water hardness.

The biosorption of cadmium(II) and zinc(II) ions onto dried Fontinalis antipyretica, a widely spread aquatic moss, was studied under different values of temperature, initial pH and water hardness. The equilibrium was well described by Langmuir adsorption isotherms. Maximum biosorption capacity of cadmium was independent on temperature and averaged 28.0 mg g(-1) moss, whereas for zinc, capacity ...
